Experienced local archaeologist, Helen Manley Jones starts her Prehistory Car Tours on Thursday 17th April.

She will be meeting groups at Newport Tourist Information Centre at 9.30 a.m. for a drive around the area, stopping at a number of sites such as Pentre Ifan burial chamber, Preseli bluestone sites, stone circles etc.

Routes may be tailored to suit each group but will always reach Castell Henllys Iron Age Fort at 12.30. A visit to the fort, guided by Helen is included in the car tour price of £15 per person.

Carningli Bike Hire, with Helen’s help has devised self-guided Prehistory Cycle Tours for those who prefer to explore on two wheels.
There are several options, from a short but beautiful ride to Nevern to a full length tour of the Preselis.
Our favourite takes 2 – 3 hours, depending on how long you wish to spend at each prehistoric site. It can be ridden any time but is designed so that you can arrive at Castell Henllys at 12.30 on a car tour Thursday. Basic refreshments (tea/coffee, crisps etc) will be available in the shop and you can join Helen’s guided tour. (Entry to the site will be payable – Helen’s tour included).
